EXECUTIVE FUNCTION COACHING FOR LIFE LONG SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Finding Focus empowers children, teens, and young adults to overcome executive function roadblocks and achieve their goals, both big and small.
Grounded in developmental psychology, education principles, and automaticity research, Finding Focus's unique approach uses practical strategies to foster positive identity development, solve problems, and build life long skills.
Overview
Executive function helps us set goals and achieve them, through making plans, managing time, staying organized, and maintaining focus. Even bright, motivated individuals can struggle with executive function skills. When these skills are underdeveloped, it can lead to frustration, self-doubt, and missed potential. (See more about executive function.)
If your child – or you – have difficulty keeping track of belongings, organizing materials, managing time, get started on and/or completing projects, or prioritizing responsibilities, Finding Focus can help. (See more about who we help.)
We build executive function skills using practical techniques and tools that make setting and reaching goals – and getting through every day life – easier. As confidence grows, so does a sense of control, independence, and capability. (See more about services.)

THE FINDING FOCUS APPROACH
I believe it is important to help clients solve immediate problems AND build lifelong skills. Finding Focus is informed by my backgrounds in education and psychology -- specifically, identity development and automaticity research.
Identity. I want my clients to understand that anyone can learn new executive function strategies and skills. When clients experience and internalize growth, meaningful shifts in identity can occur. For children, it is especially important to foster a positive sense of self and avoid the adoption of labels like "disorganized" or "absent minded". This is for both general health and because of the strong link between identity and motivation.
Automaticity. Simple straight forward tools and tricks can help anyone build helpful habits and get things done. The goal of automaticity is to make hard work easier through routine and use of environmental cues.
Finding focus is about empowering individuals and simply making life easier.
